Goo Goo Dolls Get A Present From Dick

Happy to (finally) have a hit.

The Goo Goo Dolls have had some rescheduling to do. They were due to
perform on the David Letterman Show two weeks ago, but got bumped
because Steve Martin gabbed on and on in what seemed to be a very
Larry Sanders moment. The band was crushed, but soon recovered when
they appeared at last week's Billboard awards show. Johnny Rzeznik was
all aglow because he got to meet his hero, B.B.King. The Goobers, as
they are known affectionately, were so jazzed with appearing on their
first awards show ever, that they rented out a top floor suite at New
York's Mayflower hotel, overlooking Central Park, where they
entertained twenty of their nearest and dearest cronies from their
(relatively) nearby hometown of Buffalo, New York.

Everybody seems to want to a piece of the Goos, now that they've
gotten their first gold album. They just taped the Dick Clark New
Years special, and Clark came into the green room with a little
surprise for each of the guys. He had Express-mailed from Nashville
four Goo Goo Cluster candy bars, one for each of them. "Oh you're too
   generous." they cooed. Not.
