GGD in the City

Roseland Ballrom, NYC

Review by: Amanda

Oh My God. I am still on freakin' cloud nine! I just saw the boys last night and it totally rocked.

My friend and I arrived at the ballroom at about 6:30 and we walked right in. I was buggin' out because there was no one in there and she was like you know this is really weird. Well, it was all fine and dandy until I tried to buy something and the lady was like"The doors aren't open yet." Then as soon as she said that some big ol' security guy was like how'd you get in here, isn't anyone watching the doors? So we weren't exactly escorted out we pretty much just let. Then we saw the line. It rapped around the building and by the time we got to the end we figured that there was about 1500 people in front of us.

They started letting us in at about 6:45 but we didn't get in unil about a quater after 7 and by that time the pit was pretty crowed. We did our best to get right up to the front but becuase of some very rude, very high people we were unable to. Anthenaum(spelling) started at 7:30 right on time. They were really good but until they played their single I didn't have any idea who they were. Still good none the less. After a 1/2 hour sound check Buffalo Tom came on. They were really good as well but by this time we were just bugging out waiting for the goo's.

At 9:30 the room went black and the alter boy or should I say guy came out and lit the candelabras. From where we were standing we could see Johnny on the side of the stage. With a sudden rush they all came out and opened up right away with "DIzzy." Everything was very energised. No matter how tired they were last night on Letter man they definetly did not show it last night. After "Dizzy" they played "Long way down" (at least to the best of my recollection). Then they played "Slide" and "Black Balloon." Johnny looked really good! He was wearing his leather pants and a really tight zipper down black shirt. Robby had on black pants and a black shirt. Nathan was totally dressed up like a cowboy. I couldn't really see what Mike had on but I'm sure he looked good.

Johnny told about the same letter story as he was openind up to "Name." This was the first time thet I'd heard it so it was very funny, actually the whole crowd was laughing. When he was introducing the band he went into some weird thignw ith Robby but I couldn't really hear what he was saying all I know is that Robby was laughing. When Robby introduced Johnny he was like this is the guy who wipes my ass or something to that affect.

They started playing "Iris" and the whole crowd went nuts, when they were done they walked off stage and Mike threw his drum sticks. I kinda thought they were done so I finished up my role of film but I was deffinetly kicking myself in the ass after that becuase they came back on and Johnny had a towel rapped around his head. He looked so cute. I have totally lost all memory of what they played after that but it was like 5 or 6 songs.

As for the whole "teeny bopper" conversationg that has been going on on this list I have to say that there were many adults who only knew they lyrics to "Slide" and "Iris", just to prove the point that not all older people can be concidered bigger fans than the younger ones.

Once they were done and I can't remember what they closed with my friend and I hung out front of the stage to try and get stuff. A girl that I had kinda become friends with during the show caught one of the drum sticks but she had to fight with this really big guy over it. Well, she was nice enough to break it in half so my friend and I could have part of it. Hey even a broken stick is enough for me.

Now, although this is only the second time that I've seen GGD the first being at A Day in the Garden where you really couldn't see them even when you were in the pit this show was the best. They sounded great and looked great as well. No matter how tired or run down they are these guysdo whatever they can to put on a great show.

Here's they songs that they played at least what I remember(not in much of an order though):
