heres my review of the show from the york fair on september tenth of
97 probably about one of the only live shows by the goo's all year,
they were unbelieveable. they came out all hyped with playing two songs
off old albums im not to fimiliar with. Johhny only needed to raise
his hands once and yell get up once and the crowd was going nuts. They
then stopped after two songs and Johhny spoke to the crowd, " well this
song is about a guy who had no ambition at all and was going to just
sit in his basement and smoke pot(big crowd response for this)" he
then stopped to stare at someone and tell them he liked them to,
then went on "were was I? Oh yeah i was in the middle of some bullshit
story I was making up" they then ripped into "eyes wide open", they
never stopped the aggression going from one song into another without
missing a beat. they tore through "long way down" "naked" "lazy
eye",
which reznik mentioned "everytime we play this song it scars the shit
out of me", "disconnected" "slave girl", "name"
"burnin up"
"impersonallity" and the set closer a elonggated version of "flat
top".
some time during the set ( i dont remember when) a bra was thrown
up onstage and being the feminist he is Mr. Reznik put the damn bra
on and yet again i quote, "well know that im in touch with my feminine
side(while stroking his breast's), i feel kinda goofy" with that he
took it off threw it back to the crowd. The best quote of the night
which i will close this review off with is by Johhny reznik again
and once more i quote "man i picked one hell of a day to stop drinking
(pause) so i'll just keep drinking(as he takes a drink and raises it
to the crowd)"
